Seven years ago James was a soldier in Kosovo, he remembered being struck by the work of doctors volunteering to help the wounded.

“I was there for six months and to continually see them working in the middle of nowhere with very little in the form of security, very little in the form of decent living conditions and yet still selflessly, tirelessly helping other people, I was touched every single day,”the British singer told The Associated Press.

Now that he’s a multi-platinum singer, the 32-year-old Blunt is finding a way to help the cause.

On Thursday in Los Angeles, Blunt, perhaps best known for the ballad”You’re Beautiful,”will perform a special benefit concert for Doctors Without Borders, which provides aid to disaster victims and other communities with little access to health care. In addition, during his”Back to Bedlam”tour, he has auctioned off meet-and-greets with proceeds benefiting the organization.

Petra Nemcova, 27, still thinks her beau, singer James Blunt, 32, is beautiful. The model tells Us Weekly that despite New York Daily News reports, she has not left him for music mogul Russell Simmons, 49.

“There is nothing truthful about it,” she tells Us. “I am with James, happy and in love.”

According to Britain’s Daily Mail, supermodel Petra Nemcova broke up with “You’re Beautiful” singer, James Blunt after she found that he cheated on her with numerous women in Ibiza.

The paper also reported that a vicious fight during London’s Fashion week last month marked the beginning of the end. Blunt, the Daily Mail said, is trying to win Nemcova back.

A source close to the couple told The ShowBuzz Tuesday that Nemcova and Blunt are still dating. “I talked to Petra this morning, and she said they are very much together,” the source said.

Take a glance at the pop charts and what you’ll find is a lot of booty songs and very few people wearing their hearts on their sleeves.

James Blunt dared to do it, and has gotten mostly the best and just a little of the worst of it.

The British singer-songwriter’s bleeding-heart single, “You’re Beautiful,” went to No. 1 on the charts, driving sales of his debut, “Back to Bedlam,” to sales of more than 10 million worldwide.

On the flip side, it’s a weepy ballad about seeing his ex-girlfriend on a subway train with another man, and it’s been played to death, so there’s the inevitable backlash. In fact, this year Blunt, who appears at Playhouse Square in Cleveland Oct. 18 and the Fox Theater in Detroit Oct. 19, placed fourth in a British survey of the most annoying things in the U.K.

“I was really [angry] about that,” Blunt says in a recent phone interview from Spain. “I’ve never come in fourth in anything. And I’m really upset. Who beat me?”

James Blunt insists he can take criticism in his stride following the massive success of his debut album ‘Back To Bedlam’.

The singer-songwriter enjoyed the biggest selling album of last year in the UK and also topped the charts with single ‘You’re Beautiful’.

He has been regularly criticised in the music press for being bland and boring, but he insists the support of his legion of fans helps him to cope with the doubters.

He said: “I’ve definitely suffered from the backlash thing, but I’ve also had a huge amount of support along the way.

“I know if you put your head above the parapet you should expect to get shot at in some way.

James has laughed off constant speculation he’s a womaniser, insisting he only has eyes for girlfriend Petra Nemcova.
James has been linked with a succession of beauties since he began dating stunning Czech model Nemcova.
But he insists he is deeply in love and would never dream of cheating on her - and the women he is photographed with are just his pals.
He says, “I’m a very lucky man to be with Petra and that’s all I need to say.
“I’ve been linked to all sorts of friends romantically and it’s all just laughable.
“I only have to be photographed talking to someone and then I’m meant to be going out with them.
“My personal life is settled and good and I’m feeling very lucky and happy.”

Atlantic Records is planning on re-releasing U.K. singer/songwriter James Blunt’s debut album, Back To Bedlam, which will include a second CD. The second disc will be a live disc recorded from last year’s performance in Ireland. This coincides with the release of Blunt’s next single called, “Goodbye My Lover”.

The bonus CD will have two remakes which includes the following: the Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?” and Crowded House’s “Fall at Your Feet”. It will also feature the previously unreleased song “Sugar Coated” from Blunt himself. (more…)

James Blunt is the most popular musician to soundtrack a funeral, it has been confirmed.

The star came top of a British poll conducted by the Bereavement Register, which surveyed 5,000 U.K. funerals in compiling the chart.

Blunt’s “Goodbye My Lover” finished at number one, ahead of “Angels” by Robbie Williams and “I’ve Had The Time Of My Life” by Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley.

Mark Roy, of the Bereavement Register, commented: “The top 20 really shows how far we have come in terms of saying goodbye. Gone are the dirges of yore, instead we are seeing contemporary music that is easier to relate to. Everyone has a favorite song that means something very special to them, often connected to a particular time and place. When the song is played this can be a very emotive reminder of that person and a reassurance in our time of grief.”

James Blunt gave Weird Al Yankovic his permission to send-up his hit song “You’re Beautiful” before record bosses stepped in and put a stop to the parody. Yankovic claims Blunt gave his blessing for his version of the song renamed “You’re Pitiful” before executives from Atlantic Records refused to allow it to go forward.

Yankovic tells website Ain’t It Cool News.com, “It was originally supposed to be the lead single on (his new album) Straight Outta Lynwood. James had given it his blessing and we had a release date set, and then his label found out about it and told me that I couldn’t release the parody on my album under any circumstances.
