James slams the British government    ·    December 9th, 2007

James Blunt has criticised his government for not doing enough to help injured army veterans.

Blunt slammed Prime Minister Gordon Brown for not providing enough funding for soldiers injured in war, reports contactmusic.com.

“The government have a record of not providing adequate funds for equipment or care for soldiers who don’t come back in one piece. We ask a lot of our soldiers, sailors and airmen — but at the same time they get less and less,” it reported.

James, Mika, Ibiza

Wearing a blue cowboy hat, James Blunt and his new girlfriend Mika Simmons (actress) were spotted by the paparazzi having a great time on the beach in Ibiza.

And it wasn’t a secluded spot either — they were surrounded by a bevvy of blondes in the Spanish resort.

James was taking some time out before releasing the follow-up to his multi-million selling album Back To Bedlam — All The Lost Souls is out on September 17.

On the beach James looked pleased as punch as he and Mika checked out their holiday snaps.

Blunt’s Piano Sold on Auction    ·    August 9th, 2007

The piano James Blunt composed his first hit You’re Beautiful on fetched £1,200 (USD$2,400) at auction in London last month.

The old Chappell piano, which Blunt also used for his single Goodbye My Lover, was snapped up by a doting dad for his six-year-old daughter.

The anonymous bidder revealed his daughter was a huge fan of Blunt and his #1 ballad, a favorite at weddings.

The instrument was originally sold by James with the two-bedroom flat he lived in with his sister before he hit the big time with his debut album Back To Bedlam. The piano was sold by the flat’s new owners.

Blunt’s piano was expected to fetch up to £1,500 when it went under the hammer at Bonhams in central London.

Bonhams spokeswoman Frances Godden said: “We’re delighted with the outcome.

“It’s not a particularly fine piano, but the anonymous bidder who bought it said it was for his young daughter who is a big fan of James Blunt.”

All The Lost Souls Album Cover

James Blunt’s new album cover for All The Lost Souls (above) is getting a lot of criticism in the media. Several online news sites are saying it’s “annoying” and “egotistical”. The cover is 1000 photographs of James collaged to look like one big photo of him.

While James has penned a number of the songs on his new album himself, Billboard reports that he has been paired up with R&B, pop and hip hop producers and writers such as Max Martin and Mark Batsin.

James Blunt’s Royalty Dispute    ·    May 14th, 2007

James Blunt has had all his royalty payments suspended from his album and is appealing to London’s High Court under his real name of James Blount (changed to help fans pronounce his name correctly).

Lukas Burton, a US music producer has claimed to have worked with James on six of the tracks on “Back to Bedlam” and has described the songs as being “crude” and even “laughable” at times in their original form.

Burton claims that he deserves a cut of James’ profits from the album.

Blunt and his record label EMI have now issued a writ against Burton at London’s High Court.
