The piano James Blunt composed his first hit You’re Beautiful on fetched £1,200 (USD$2,400) at auction in London last month.
The old Chappell piano, which Blunt also used for his single Goodbye My Lover, was snapped up by a doting dad for his six-year-old daughter.
The anonymous bidder revealed his daughter was a huge fan of Blunt and his #1 ballad, a favorite at weddings.
The instrument was originally sold by James with the two-bedroom flat he lived in with his sister before he hit the big time with his debut album Back To Bedlam. The piano was sold by the flat’s new owners.
Blunt’s piano was expected to fetch up to £1,500 when it went under the hammer at Bonhams in central London.
Bonhams spokeswoman Frances Godden said: “We’re delighted with the outcome.
“It’s not a particularly fine piano, but the anonymous bidder who bought it said it was for his young daughter who is a big fan of James Blunt.”
