James Blunt, whose single ‘You’re Beautiful’ has rocketed to the top of the charts in the U.S. as well as his native England, will perform a May 28th benefit concert at the Belleayre Music Festival in Highmount, NY. Proceeds from the concert will benefit both the Belleayre Music Conservatory, a non-profit founded to promote cultural programs in the Catskills, and the ‘Snuffy Suites.’ The idea for the benefit was conceived by Atlantic Records A&R executive Mary Gormley, a Phoenicia native. The ‘Snuffy Suites’ dog shelter in the town of Shandaken was named in memory of Mary’s loving canine companion, ‘Snuffy,’ who passed away last year. At that time, Mary asked James if he would consider doing a benefit to raise funds for the shelter. He readily agreed and will perform an intimate acoustic show at Belleayre on May 28. ‘James is truly a man of his word,’ Mary related. ‘His career is now a whirlwind of fame and he is gladly taking the time to perform the ‘Snuffy’ benefit.’ The Belleayre Music Festival show will start at 7 p.m. Tickets for the James Blunt show will be available May 1st, only through Ticketweb (www.ticketweb.com).
